Question 26599: this is an extra credit problem that no one in our class can solve:
suppose the coeffients of the equation F(x)=ax^3+bx^2+cx+d=0 satisfy the equation a + b + c + d = 0. Name a zero of the equation F(x)
thank you in advance for your help. this is due tomorrow, so i would appreciate any help as soon as you can give it.
Answer by venugopalramana(3286) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
suppose the coeffients of the equation F(x)=ax^3+bx^2+cx+d=0 satisfy the equation a + b + c + d = 0. Name a zero of the equation F(x)
THIS INDICATES THAT WHEN WE PUT X=1 IN F(X) WE GET ZER0.SINCE
F(1)=A*1^3+B*1^2+C*1+D=A+B+C+D=0...
HENCE X=1 IS A ZERO OF THE FUNCTION.
