Question 26358: I did this problem and got it wrong could someone please help?
Simplify: x(4x^2+3x-5)-2(4-x^2)
= x(4x^2+3x^2-5x-2-2X^2)
= 4x^3+(3x^2-2x^2)-5x-2
= 4x^3 + x^2-5x-2 Answer I don't know what I did wrong.

It seems that you had a bit of trouble distributing the 2 in the second part of the expression. Here's what you do:
x(4x^2+3x-5)-2(4-x^2)
distribute both the x and the -2 throughout the expressions they're outside of
4x^3+3x^2-5x-8+2x^2
Now you can simplify it into:
4x^3+5x^2-5x-8
Enjoy!
