Question 251425: Add. simplify if possible.
8v/v^2-36 + v/v-6
would it be -41+8v^-1?

Answer by stanbon(75887)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Add. simplify if possible.
8v/(v^2-36) + v/(v-6)
----------
Factor:
8v/[(v-6)(v+6)] + v/(v-6)
-----------
The lcd is (v-6)(v+6)
--------------
Rewrite each fraction with the lcd as its denominator:
8v/lcd + [v(v+6)}/lcd
-------------------------
Combine the numerators over the lcd:
[8v + v^2+6v]/lcd
----
[v^2+14v]/lcd
-----
Simplify:
[v(v+14)]/[(v+6)(v-6)]
