Hello,
First, I wonder if you copied the problem correctly. Is it supposed to look like this? 12x^2-40x-32=0 If so then I'll solve it as such but let's rewrite it to look like this:
4(3x^2-10x-8)=0
This can be factored to:
4(3x+2)(x-4)=0
Now we have:
x=-2/3
x=4
