Answer by nyc_function(2741) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
a^2 + b^2 = c^2
a^2 + (2)^2 = (sqrt{13})^2
a^2 + 4 = 13
a^2 = 13 - 4
a^2 = 9
sqrt{a^2} = sqrt{9}
a = 3 and a = -3
