Question 243271: I'm stuck on the Factoring section of the current unit I'm in for College Algebra. I don't understand it & can't even begin to figure this out.
I have a few problems that I need help with. Thank you!
x^10y^3 – 4x^9y^2 – 21x^8y
x^3 – 2x^2 + 7x – 14
x^2 + 9x + 8
8x^2 – 200y^2
7x^2 + 58x + 16
7x^2 + 49x + 42
The assignment says to "Factor Completely"... I don't understand that.

x^10y^3 – 4x^9y^2 – 21x^8y
x^8y(x^2y^2-4xy-21)
x^8y(xy-7)(xy+3) ans.
------------------------------
x^3 – 2x^2 + 7x – 14
x^2(x-2)+7(x-2)
(x^2+7)(x-2) ans.
-------------------------------
x^2 + 9x + 8
(x+8)(x+1) ans.
-------------------------------
8x^2 – 200y^2
8(x^2-25y^2)
8(x+5y)(x-5y) ans.
--------------------------------
7x^2 + 58x + 16
(7x+2)(x+8) ans.
-----------------------------
7x^2 + 49x + 42
7(x^2+7x+6)
7(x+6)(x+1) ans.
