Question 22348: simplify . give restrictions on the varible.
[3x^2 +17xy +20y^2] /[3x^2 -xy-10y^2]
first of all i don't know how to give a restriction on the varible
if you can could you explain how do the whole restriction part
Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
the restriction is that the denominator cannot be zero.
So you need to find out what values of "x" and "y" make the denominator zero.
Factor the denominator and set the product equal to zero.
(3x+5y)(x-2y)=0
x= -5y/3 OR x=2y
These are the values "x" cannot take.

Stan H.
