sorry, but that is so wrong, it is scary!

Side = (1.732x + 1.414).

Being a square, the other side is also that.

So, area is (one side)*(other side). So do that then...

(1.732x + 1.414)(1.732x + 1.414)

Now multiply the brackets out to get a quadratic and that is your polynomial expression for the area.
