Question 214397: How do I solve this linear equation
Is (5,0) a solution of the system
x-4y=5
2x-3y=10
Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Is (5,0) a solution of the system
x-4y=5
2x-3y=10
------------------
Multiply thru the 1st equation by 2 to get:
2x-8y = 10
---
Subtract that equation from the 2nd equation to get:
5y = 0
y = 0
--------------
Substitute that into x -4y = 5
x -4*0 = 5
x = 5
==================
So you are correct; (5,0) is the solution.
