Question 214181: Need help in this problem?
Is (-2,-2) a solution of the system
x-3y=4
3x+y=-8
Answer by jim_thompson5910(35256) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Simply plug in x=-2 and y=-2 into both equations and simplify. If you get two identities, then (-2,-2) is the solution. If one is not (or both aren't) an identity, then (-2,-2) is NOT the solution.
Note: an identity is an equation that is ALWAYS true. A simple identity is 0=0.
