You got them both right. Good job.
To verify your answer, simply plug the solution into the original equation and simplify. If you get a true equation (like 2=2 for example), then the answer is definitely a solution which verifies it.
So for example, let's say we want to verify the second problem:
Start with the given equation.
Plug in
Combine like terms.
Reduce
Since the equation is true, the solution is verified.
