Question 209355: Divide and simplify.
(5x-40/22)÷(x-8/55x)

Answer by stanbon(75887)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
simplify.
(5x-40/22)÷(x-8/55x)
---
(5(x-8))/22 + (x-8)/55x
---------------------
lcd = 22*55x
-------------------------
Rewrite each term with the lcd as its denominator:
[5(x-8)55x]/lcd] + [(x-8)*22/lcd]
-------------------------
Combine the numerators over the lcd:
= [275x(x-8)+22(x-8)]/lcd
---
= [275x^2 - 2200x + 22x - 176]/lcd
---
= [275x^2 - 2178x - 176]/[1210x]
