Question 207697: I don't know how to factor trinomials completely without a book. Can you please help me? here is my problem.
t^2+6t+9=(?)^?
Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
t^2+6t+9
---
Think of two numbers whose product is 9 and whose sum is 6.
The numbers are 3 and 3.
Replace the 6t by 3t + 3t to get:
t^2 + 3t + 3t + 9
--------------------------
Factor the 1st two and the last two terms separately:
t(t+3) + 3(t+3)
Factor again to get the final answer:
(t+3)(t+3)
