= 8*(8y^3 - 1)
= 8*(2y-1)*(4y^2 + 2y + 1)

Any difference of cubes is like that.
a^3 - b^3 = (a-b)*(a^2 + ab + b^2)
----------
Any difference of odd powers is similar
a^5 - b^5 = (a-b)*(a^4 + a^3b + a^2b^2 + ab^3 + b^4)
