Answer by stanbon(75887)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
(x^2 - 9x + 8 / 2x - 4)/(x^2 -1 / 2x + 2)
---
Factor where you can and invert the denominator::
[(x-8)(x-1)]/[2(x-2)] * [2(x+1)/(x-1)(x+1)]
---
Cancel any factors that are common to a numerator and a denominator
such as 2,(x-1),(x+1) to get:
---
[(x-8)]/[(x-2)]
