Question 200010: Given the rational function f(x)=2x/x+4 I need to find the domain, find the equation of each vertical asymptote, if there is any? Find the equation for any horizontal asymptotes and explain how you found the equation. Also find the range of the functionand any intercepts the graph of the function may have. And last but not least algebraicly find find pionts and beyond each x-intercep and vertical asymotope. believe it or not this is only one out of 30 questions so if someone feeling kind out there would please solve this for me, I would definatly appreciate the help!
Answer by edjones(8007) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
2x/(x+4)
x cannot be -4 because there would be division by zero which is not allowed.
The vertical asymptote is x=-4.
x(-infinity, -4)U(-4, infinity) is the domain.
Since the degree of the expression is the same in the numerator and denominator is the same then to find the horizontal asymptote divide the leading coefficients. 2/1=2
the horizontal asymptote is 2.
