Question 192298: divide 5x^3-5x+1 by x-3
explain what i am doing
Answer by Tieria.Erde(4) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
5x^2-15x+45+46/x-3
_________
x-3|5x^3+0x^2-5x+1
- 5x^3-15x^2
-15x^2-5x
-15x^2+45x
45x+1
-45x+45
(46)^
You basically the same thing as in regular division. Except since it's missing the x^2 you have to add it. and keep going on.. on the last part since this problem has a remainder you have to add it on to your answer but you have to include the x-3 on the denominator of 46.
5x^2-15x+45+46
x-3
