b^2-6b-40

Answer by Tieria.Erde(4)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Identify the form, this one is (b+ )(b- )
Identify the third factor (40) that would add and subtract to get -6.
1*40
2*20
[4*10] <--- This one subtracts to get -6
Since the second term is a negative the bigger number gets the subtraction part.

Answer: (b+4)(b-10)

Check: b(b-10)= b^2-10b
4(b-10)= 4b-40
b^2-6b-40
