Question 189025: Find and equation of varitation for the given situation.
1) y varies inversely as the square of x, and y=6 when x=3
2) y varies directly as x and inversely as z, and y=4 when x=14 and z=15
3) y varies jointly as x and z inversely as the square of w , and y=12/5 when x=16, z=3, w=5

I really need help how to solve this. Im lost and need help. Thanks

Find and equation of varitation for the given situation.
1) y varies inversely as the square of x:
y = k/x
and y=6 when x=3
6 = k/3
k = 18
Equation: y = 18/x
===========================
2) y varies directly as x and inversely as z:
y = kx/z
y=4 when x=14 and z=15
4 = k*14/15
k = 60/14
k = 30/7
--
Equation: y = (30/7)(x/z)
====================================

3) y varies jointly as x and z inversely as the square of w:
y = k[xz/w^2]
y=12/5 when x=16, z=3, w=5
(12/5) = k[16*3/25]
k = (25*12/5*3)=20
---
Equation: y = 20[xz/w^2]
====================================
Cheers.
