Question 187498: I need to solve the following equation:
1/b-3 = b/4

Answer by checkley77(12844)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
1/b-3 = b/4
(1-3b)/b=b/4
b^2=4(1-3b)
b^2=4-12b
b^2+12b-4=0

b=(-12+-sqrt[12^2-4*1*-4])/2*1
b=(-12+-sqrt[144+16])/2
b=(-12+-sqrt160)/2
b=(-12+-12.649)/2
b=(-12+12.649)/2
b=.649/2
b=.3246 ans.
b=.649/2
b=(-12-12.649)/2
b=-24.649/2
-12.3246 ans.
