Solve the equation: +5%2Fx+-+3%2Fx+=+3+
This is what I did, but I am not sure it is correct.

%28x%29+5%2Fx+-+%28x%29+3%2Fx+=++%28x%29+3%2F1+
5x+-+3x+=+3x
-2 = 3x
-2%2F3+=+x

If you could please let me know if i did this correctly, i would appreciate it from the bottom of my heart and the top of my grades.

5x+-+3x+=+3xis what you have written .it should be 5x+-+3x+=+3x%2Ax
I AM SURE IT IS A SLIP IN TYPING AS THE LATER WORKING IS CORRECT
NOW ON TO A BETTER ALTERNATIVE...GOLDEN RULE LIZZY IS "LOOK FOR COMMON FACTORS"
we have 1/x common so take it out in the begining
we get from..+5%2Fx+-+3%2Fx+=+3+
=(1/x)(5-3)=3
or (1/x)2=3...cross multiplying 1*2=3*x..or x=2/3..as YOU HAVE GOT CORRECTLY..HOPE IT IS CLEAR..KEEP IT UP!!

Well...think about this, you are subtracting two fractions 5%2Fx and 3%2Fx and you'll notice that they have a common the denominator of x, so, you can just subtract the two fractions.
5%2Fx+-+3%2Fx+=+3
%285-3%29%2Fx+=+3
2%2Fx+=+3 Multiply both sides by x.
2+=+3x Finally, divide both sides by 3.
2%2F3+=+x
The solution is x+=+2%2F3
Check: 5%2F%282%2F3%29+-+3%2F%282%2F3%29+=+15%2F2+-+9%2F2 = %2815-9%29%2F2+=+6%2F2 = 3 OK.
