Question 174587: I'm trying to solve a problem on the diagonisation of a matrix, but in order to do it I have to solve the following simultaneous equations for x,y and z:
0x+0y+0z=0
0x-1.9y+3z=0
0x+3y+5.4z=0
I don't understand how I can solve for x when it's not given any values - would you be able to explain this to me?

You are right. X could be anything so it is trivial. I wouldn't bang your head against the wall. Either a typo or trick question of some kind.
