Question 171361: Factoring polynomials
36=1/2x(x+4)

Answer by checkley77(12844)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
36=1/2x(x+4)
36=X/2(X+4)
36=(X^2+4X)/2
X^2+4X=72
X^2+4X-72=0
USING THE QUADRATIC EQUATION: WE GET:
X=(-4+-SQRT[4^2-4*1*-72])/2*1
X=(-4+-SQRT[16+288])/2
X=(-4+-SQRT304)/2
X=(-4+-17.4356)/2
X=(-4+17.4356)/2
X=13.4356/2
X=6.7178 ANS.
X=(-4-17.4356)/2
X=-21.4356/2
X=-10.7178 ANS.
