Answer by stanbon(75887)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
A ball is thrown directly upward from ground level with an initial speed of 80ft/s. How high will it go? When will it return to the ground? use the formula h = vt - 16t^2
--------------------
h = zero when the ball hits the ground.
---------------
Since v = 80 ft/second. you get:
-16t^2+80t = 0
-16t(t-5) = 0
t = 0 or t = 5
===========================
It started at the ground at t=0 seconds
It will be back on the ground at t = 5 seconds
