Question 165233: solve each of the equations. idicate the LCD.
6/x^2+2=3/x

Answer by midwood_trail(310)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Before I can help you, I want to know which is the correct equation.
You typed this: 6/x^2+2=3/x
But, did you mean to type this: (6/x^2) + 2 = (3/x) OR did you mean to type the following: 6/(x^2 + 2) = (3/x)?
Get back to me and I will then be able to help you.

MY NEW REPLY:

6/x^2 + 2/1 = 3/x
Your LCD = x^2
We multiply each term by the LCD. This is done to remove the fractions.
6/x^2 times x^2 = 6
2/1 times x^2 = 2x^2
3/x times x^2 = 3x
x^2 + 6 = 3x
x^2 -3x + 6 = 0
If the question is correct the way you said it is, it leads to the following quadratic equation:
x^2 -3x + 6 = 0
This equation must be factored using the quadratic equation or completing the square. The quadratic formula method is much, much easier than completing the square.
Do you know how to use the quadratic formula?
