A house has two rooms of equal area. One room is square and the other is a rectangle 4 ft narrower and 5 ft longer than the square one. Find the area of each room.

Square room is x by x ft ; Area = x^2 ft
-------------------
Other room is (x-4) by (x+5) ft ; Area = (x-4)(x+5) = x^2+x-20 ft.

EQUATION
Square area = Rectangular area
x^2 = x^2+x-20
x-20= 0
x = 20 ft.

Square room area = 20^2 = 400 sq. ft.
Rectangular room area = (20-4)(20+5) = 16*25 = 400 sq. ft.
