Question 156666: I know this is not difficult...but, not quite sure...not judging by the multiple choice answers...
The question is Find the LCM of w^2 , w^2 − 25 and w^2+10w+25....
Ok.....here we go..
w2 = w2
w2 − 25 = (w – 5)(w + 5)
w2+10w+25 = (w + 5 )(w + 5)
so would the LCM w^2(w + 5)(w − 5)?
Answer by nerdybill(7384) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Your approach is fine.
.
However, if the same factor occurs more than once in an expression, you multiply the factor the greatest number of times it occurs.
.
Notice that (w + 5 ) occurs TWICE when factoring w^2+10w+25
.
Therefore, instead of
w^2(w + 5)(w − 5)
it should be:
w^2(w + 5)^2(w − 5)
