(8-v)/(v-2) - (4v-9)/(v-2)
i got -v+8/v-2 -4v-9/-v+2... do i go a step further? Is there a step beyond this?

Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Subtract and simplify
(8-v)/(v-2) - (4v-9)/(2-v)
-------------------------------
Multiply numerator and demoniator of the 2nd fraction by -1
to get:
(8-v)/(v-2) + (4v-9)/(v-2)
Now the denominators are the same so combine the numerators to get;
= [8-v+4v-9] / [v-2]
= [3v-1] / [v-2]
