As you know, the perimeter of a closed figure such as you show in you diagram, is found by adding the lengths of all the sides.
In your eight-sided figure, you have sides:
(x+8)+5+x+(x+12)+x+2x+(x+8)+34 Now if you simplify this by combining like-terms, you'll get:
7x+67 So now you can write the polynomial equation for the perimeter, P:
