Question 155219: can somebody please outline the steps involved from going from n^2-7n-8=0 to (n-8)(n+1)=0. Thank you

This is a simple factorization problem.
n^2 -7n -8=0 can be written as
n^2 -8n + n -8=0
n(n-8) +1(n-8)=0
Taking n-8 as common:
(n-8)(n+1)=0
