Question 149353: Multiplying and Dividing Rational Expressions....
1)(16x^2/y^4)Multiplied by (5x^2/y^2)

2) (6x^5y^3/5z^3)Multiplied by(6x^4/5yz^4)

3) (x^2+7x+12/x+4) Multiplied by (1/x+3)

4) (25xy^2/7z) Divided By (5x^2y^2/14z^2)

5)(x^2-12x+32/x^2-6x-16)Divided by (x^2-x-12/x^2-5x-24)

I am aware that when you multiply and divide ration expressions the denominators must be the same, but I am unaware as to how to go about this. Can you please help me if at all possible with these questions so I can further apply these methods to the rest of my homework.......

Answer by vleith(2983)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
When add or subtract fraction, the denominators must be the same. That is not the case when you multiply or divide.
If I asked you to multiply * = you would say . No need to get a common denominator. Just multiply the numerators together. Then put that result over the product of the denominators. Then simplify if possible.
So let;s do the first one.

I'll leave problem 2 for you.
Let's look at problem 3.

To do division, just remember that dividing a fraction by a fraction is the same as multiplying the first fraction by the reciprocal of the second one.
So, for problem 4

And now use the same process used in the previous problems to solve.
Same for 5. Just remember to factor and cancel before getting too far into the work
