Question 141736: Tutor can you help me please**
Determine the horizontal asymptotes of:
(a) f(x)=2x^2+3/4x^2+5
(b) g(x)=x+4/x^4+2x^4
(c) h(x)=x^5+2/x^3-2
Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Determine the horizontal asymptotes of:
Procedure:
1st: Find the highest power of the variable that appears either in the
numberator or in the denominator.
2nd: The horizontal asymptote is the ratio of the coefficients of that
variable as they appear in the nummerator and the denominator.
---------------------------------
(a) f(x)=2x^2+3/4x^2+5
1st: highest is x^2
2nd: HA: y = 4/2 = 1/2
---------------------------
(b) g(x)=x+4/x^4+2x^4
1st: highest is x^4
2nd: HA: y = 0/4 = 0
-----------------------
(c) h(x)=x^5+2/x^3-2
1st: highest = x^5
2nd: HA: y = 1/0 is undefined; therefore no HA
