Question 137845: can you please help me factor this:
x squared + 4 + 3
Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
x squared + 4x + 3
--------------------
Using the AC-Method:
Think of two numbers whose product is 3 and whose sum is 4.
The numbers are 3 and 1
------------------
Replace the 4x term with 3x+x to get:
x^2+3x+x+3
--------------
Factor the 1st two and the last two terms separately to get:
x(x+3) + (x+3)
Factor again to get the final answer:
= (x+3)(x+1)
