i am assuming you mean: sqrt%282%29y%5E2+-+3y+-+10+=+y? If so,

sqrt%282%29y%5E2+-+4y+-+10+=+0

so, you have a quadratic, which either factorises easily or use the quadratic formula... here use the formula, i think.
