This applies often to problems in physics -- and in real life.
So let's say an expression is given as the model for something based in time. Example, the trajectory of a batted ball.
If the question asked "when will the ball hit the ground?" and one of the answer is -5 seconds. An answer that happens 'before the ball is hit', is a solution that is unacceptable.
