I assume you mean:
p(x) = -.002x^2 + 1.2x - 300
:
It looks like this equation has no real roots, check the discriminate (b^2 - 4ac)
a = -.002; b = 1.2; c = 300
:
1.2^2 - 4 * -.002 * -300 =
1.44 - 2.4 = -.96 indicates there is no real roots for this equation
