Question 1190092: Please verify that I have properly completed the below using the given values of x, and evaluated the polynomial functions:
PROBLEM 1:
F(x) = x^2 + 7x -2
F(3)
F(3) = (3)^2 + 7(3) -2
= 9 + 21 -2 = 28
PROBLEM 2:
F(x) = 5x^2 - 11x +5
F(-1)= 5(-1)^2 - 11(-1) +5
= 5 + 11 + 5 = 26
Have I correctly evaluated the 2 given polynomials below by synthetic substitution:
Problem 1:
3x^2 - 5x -5
F(-6)
F(-6) = 133
Problem 2:
7x^2 -9x +2
F(-2)
F(-2) = 12
Thank you

PROBLEM 1 correct

PROBLEM 2 incorrect

Problem 1 correct

Problem 2 incorrect.

Comment from student:   Would Problem 2 on top answer then be 5+11+5 =21 and Problem 2 on answer on bottom be F(-2) = 48 Thank you

My response :   Yes,  your corrected numbers are valid.
