first do 11z*4z^2=44z^3
then 11z*-3z= -33z^2
and 11z*-4= -44z
then
-3*4z^2=-12z^2
-3*-3z=9z
-3*-4=12
-
2 terms in the first *3 terms in the second =6 terms altogether.
The first and last are unique. There are two z^2 terms and two z terms.
the answer is 44z^3-45z^2-35z+12
You can add terms only if the variable is the same
so you can take -33z^2 and add only another z^2 term, not a z or z^3 or a constant.
There is another z^2 term, and it is -12z^2. -33z^2=12z^2=-45 z^2
There are no other constant terms and no other z^3 terms, but there are z terms, -44 and 9. Those may be added.

(11z-3)(4z^2-3z-4)
How do I expand the expression combining like terms and simplifying it?
Best to do distribution of 11x - 3 to the trinomial, VERTICALLY, as follows:
(11z - 3)(4z2 - 3z - 4) = 11z(4z2 - 3z - 4) - 3(4z2 - 3z - 4)
(11z - 3)(4z2 - 3z - 4) = 44z3 - 33z2 - 44z
                                   - 12z2 + 9z + 12
(11z - 3)(4z2 - 3z - 4) = 44z3 - 45z2 - 35z + 12

Multiply each term of the first expression by each term of the second; then combine like terms.

Line up the like terms vertically to make combining like terms easier.
      11z(4z^2-3z-4) = 44z^3-33z^2-44z
       -3(4z^2-3z-4) = -12z^2+ 9z+12
  ----------------------------------------
  (11z-3)(4z^2-3z-4) = 44z^3-45z^2-35z+12
