SOLUTION: What is the remainder when the polynomial g(x) = x^3-14x^2+18x+72 is divided by x-1? I got (77)/(x-1). Is that correct? If not, can you tell me what I did wrong? Thank you!

The remainder when a polynomial p(x) is divided by the linear polynomial x-a is the polynomial evaluated at a, p(a).

In this example, p(1) = 1 -14 +18 +72 = 77.

So "77/(x-1)" COULD be considered the remainder; but in most contexts the remainder would be just "77".
