The distance an object falls is directly proportional to the square of the time it has been falling. After six seconds it has fallen 1296 ft. How long will it take to fall 2304 ft?
:
k*t^2 = d
Find k, using t=6 sec & d=1296
6^2*k = 1296
36k = 1296
k = 1296/36
k = 36
:
Find t when d = 2304 and k = 36
36t^2 = 2304
t^2 = 2304/36
t^2 = 64
t = sqrt(64)
t = 8 seconds
