the equation for the height of the rocket at time t is
:
1) h(t)= -16t^2 + 288t + 60
:
the rocket follows the path of a parabola that curves downward
:
t is the x-axis and h is the y axis
:
The t value for the vertex is -b/2a = -288/2(-16) = -288/-32 = 9
:
To find the max height of the rocket substitute t = 9 in equation 1
:
h(9) = -16(9^2) +288(9) +60 = 1356 feet
