Start with the given function.

Plug in . In other words, replace each x with 4.

Evaluate to get 64.

Evaluate to get 16.

Multiply 3 and 16 to get 48

Multiply -5 and 4 to get -20

Now combine like terms

Since , this means that is not a zero
