Answer by stanbon(75887)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The weight of a can of soup is jointly proportional to its height and to the square of its diameter.
w = k*h*d^2
------
Solve for "k" using "A can 7 inches high with a diameter of 2 inches weighs 11.1 ounces.
11.1 = k*7*2^2
11.1 = 28k
k = 0.3964
-----
Equation::
w = 0.3964*h*d^2
---------------------
What is the weight of a can that is 4 inches high with a diameter of 4 inches.
The weight of the can is how many ounces?
w = 0.3964*4*4^2 = 25.37 ounces
