Question 108134: I can't seem to work this problem out right. Can you please help me?
The perimeter of the quadrilateral is 108 inches. Find the lengths of the sides. The dimensions are x+2 2x+1 x^2-3x and x-5
Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The perimeter of the quadrilateral is 108 inches. Find the lengths of the sides. The dimensions are x+2 2x+1 x^2-3x and x-5
----------------
(x+2) + (2x+1) + (x^2-3x) + (x-5) = 108
x^2 + x -4 = 108
x^2+x-112=0
------
You say you have not had "square root".
This equation requires solution by the
Quadratic Formula which involves square
roots.
Check to see if you have posted the
dimensions properly. Look especially
at the x^2-3x dimension. It is
probably wrong.
