Question 1039808: Determine the two not given function values in the triple cos(x), sin(x), tan(x)
cos(x)=-1/3, 3π

Answer by stanbon(75887)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Determine the two not given function values in the
triple cos(t), sin(t), tan(t)
--------
cos(t)=-1/3
Assume t is in QII where x is negative and y is positive::
By definition cos = x/r
So x = -1 and r = 3
---
Then y = sqrt[3^2-1^2] sqrt(8) = 2sqrt(2)
-----
Ans: sin(t) = y/r = 2srt(2)/3 ; tan(t) = y/x = 2sqrt(2)/(-1) = -sqrt(8)
