Question 1031517: Use synthetic division to show that g(x) is a factor of f(x), and complete the factorization of f(x).
g(x) = x − 1, f(x) = x3 − 6x2 − 9x + 14
Please help me solve. Thank you.

Answer by josgarithmetic(39617)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
1 | 1 -6 -9 14
     |
     | 1 -5 -14
     |_____________________________________
         1 -5 -14 0
and notice the remainder is 0.

No need to use synthetic division again unless you really want; because you can factorize just looking for the combination that works.
