Question 1027281: The directions say "Factor Completely. If the polynomial is not factorable, write prime."
Here are the problems I need:
1. 2ak-6a+k-3
2. z²-8z-10
3. 4f²-64
4. y²+18y+81
5. n³-125
6. 15a²-10ab²
7. 3st²-9s³t+6s²t²
8. 2x³y-x²y+5xy²+xy³
9. 21-7t+3r-rt
10.x²-xy+2x-2y
11. y²+20y+96
12. 4ab+2a+6b+3
13. 6n²-11n-2
14. x²-8x-8
If you can answer at least one of these, that'd be great!

Answer by Alan3354(69443)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
1. 2ak-6a+k-3
Notice the pairs of coefficiants.
2 & -6 and 1 & -3
Does that give you any idea?
--
2. z²-8z-10
Priime
--------
3. 4f²-64
Both coefficients are even, have factors of 4 actually.
Then it's a difference of 2 squares.
a^2 - b^2 = (a-b)*(a+b)
----------------
4. y²+18y+81
Both "ends" are perfect squares.
Try that 1st.
---
5. n³-125
It's a difference of 2 cubes.
a^3 - b^3 = (a-b)*(a^2 + ab + b^2)
------------
6. 15a²-10ab²
Step 1, factor out the 5 and the a.
----------------
7. 3st²-9s³t+6s²t²
Look for common factors, eg s & t.
--------------
8. 2x³y-x²y+5xy²+xy³
9. 21-7t+3r-rt
Similar to #1
-----------------
10.x²-xy+2x-2y
11. y²+20y+96
Find a pair of factors of 96 with a sum of 20.
---------------
12. 4ab+2a+6b+3
13. 6n²-11n-2
14. x²-8x-8
Prime
