Question 102194: Explain how to find the vertex of a parabola. What is the significance of the vertex?
Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
If the equation of the parabola is y=ax^2+bx+c
then the vertex is at [-b/2a , f(-b/2a)]
------------------
The vertex is the turning point of the parabola.
-------------------
If a>0 the vertex is the minimum point of the graph of the parabola.
If a<0 the vertex is the maximum point of the graph of the parabola.
