since x^9 is equal to (x^3)^3, your expression becomes:

-5x^3 + (x^3)^3

you can now factor out a common (x^3) from the expression.

you will get:

-5x^3 + (x^3)^3 = x^3 * (-5 + (x^3)^2)

since -5 is equal to -1 * 5 and 1 * (x^3)^2 is equal to -1 * -1 * (x^3)^2, you can factor out a -1 to get:

x^3 * (-5 + (x^3)^2) is equal to:
x^3 * (-1 * 5 + -1 * -1 * (x^3)^2) which is equal to:
