Question 1014877: I'm learning about the Zero Product Property but I cannot figure out how to use it with this equation: h = 151t - 16t^2. It says to replace h as zero but I dont know how to do the rest. If you can help me please and add the steps so I know could learn, it would be much appreciated.
Answer by Boreal(15235)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
h = 151t - 16t^2.
-16t^2+151t=0
t(-16t+151)=0 by factoring.
This equals 0 if t=0 OR
if -16t+151=0
the latter is -16t=-151
divide both sides by -1
16t=151
t=9.4375.
By replacing h with 0, you have a product of two factors that equals 0. This occurs when one or the other factors is 0, and that gives two solutions in this instance. One is the trivial solution 0, and the other is at 9.4375. Here is the graph, and it is the motion of a projectile fired at 150 ft/sec from the ground.
